Cowboys Restructure Deals of Clark, Bland and Ferguson, Freeing Over $19M
Dallas converts base salary into signing bonus for the three players, taking its cap space from roughly $14 million to more than $30 million heading into Week 1.
The Dallas Cowboys restructured the contracts of defensive tackle Kenny Clark, cornerback DaRon Bland and tight end Jake Ferguson, creating just over $19 million in 2026 salary-cap space.
How does a restructure work?
Dallas converted base salaries into signing bonuses: Clark's $8.8 million, Bland's $12 million and Ferguson's $7.25 million. That spreads the cap charge over the life of each deal rather than counting it all in the current year, freeing immediate room while raising future cap numbers. Bland's cap figure rises by $2.15 million in each following year and Ferguson's by $1.2 million. The moves don't change what either player actually gets paid this season.
Why now?
The three restructures take Dallas from roughly $14.2 million to more than $30 million in cap space, giving the team in-season flexibility, including the ability to make a significant trade later in the season if needed.
