What are the allegations?
A woman sued Nacua in March, alleging he bit her on the shoulder and made an antisemitic remark during a New Year's Eve incident. Nacua has not been criminally charged in connection with the incident. Reports indicate he checked into a rehab facility in Malibu earlier this year following the incident.
Is this separate from his current injury absence?
Yes. Nacua has also been out of practice this month with lower-back and psoas soreness, an unrelated issue the team has said it's managing cautiously ahead of the season. The conduct policy review is a distinct matter tied to the March lawsuit, not his current injury.
What happens next?
No final decision from the NFL has been announced. The league's personal conduct policy allows for discipline independent of criminal charges, and a ruling could come before the Rams' season opener against the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, on Sept. 10.
Did the Rams' trade for Tutu Atwell hint at a suspension?
Coach Sean McVay said no. After acquiring receiver Tutu Atwell from Miami in exchange for running back Jarquez Hunter, McVay said the move was about adding depth at receiver and had nothing to do with a possible Nacua suspension. As of the trade, the conduct-policy review remained open with no ruling from the league.
Will he play in the opener?
The Rams expect him to. Asked on Sept. 6 whether Nacua and left tackle Alaric Jackson, who is also under league review after a June domestic violence arrest that was referred to a pre-filing diversion program, would face the 49ers in Melbourne, McVay said, "Yeah, absolutely. That's what I've heard. I haven't heard anything different." Neither player has been placed on the commissioner's exempt list, and both reviews remain open with no ruling.
