Cowboys quarterback whose 2025 led the NFL in completions and pass attempts despite Dallas missing the playoffs.
Dak Prescott completed 404 of 600 passes for 4,552 yards, 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2025. Each of those totals was either a career high or a Cowboys franchise mark. None of it was enough. Dallas finished 7-9-1, missed the postseason, and now heads into 2026 with sportsbooks giving Prescott the 17th-best Super Bowl odds in the league.
Path to the league
Two-time first-team All-SEC at Mississippi State, where he still holds school records for passing touchdowns and total offense. The Cowboys took him 135th overall in 2016, a pick that looked like a steal after he won Offensive Rookie of the Year by stepping in for an injured Tony Romo. He has been the starter ever since.
Career highlights
2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Three-time Pro Bowler. 2023 NFL passing touchdowns co-leader. Owns Dallas franchise records for most career passing yards, most career touchdowns and highest single-season passer rating. The four playoff appearances and one playoff win since 2016 have defined the criticism around him.
2025 season recap
Led the league in completions (404), pass attempts (600), and passing yards (4,552). George Pickens caught 96 passes for 1,200 yards. Javonte Williams ran for 1,005 yards. The defense gave up 27.4 points per game. Dallas led the league in offensive yards and finished 25th in defensive DVOA. The 7-9-1 record told the entire story.
What to watch in 2026
Dallas franchise-tagged Pickens, signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and enters the draft with two first-round picks plus enormous cap space. Prescott turns 33 in July and is in his 11th season. The Cowboys opened at +3500 to win Super Bowl LXI, seventh in the NFC. The clock on legacy-defining playoff success is real.
