DJ Uiagalelei arrived at Clemson as one of the most hyped quarterback recruits in the country, then bounced through Oregon State and Florida State as he searched for consistency. He went undrafted in 2025 and signed with Los Angeles, where the Chargers have discussed the possibility of using his size at a different position.

Path to the league

Uiagalelei started at Clemson from 2020 to 2022, throwing for 5,681 yards, 36 touchdowns and 17 interceptions across 36 games while helping the Tigers win two ACC championships. He transferred to Oregon State for 2023, posting his best statistical season with 2,638 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and a 145.0 passer rating. A move to Florida State in 2024 was cut short by a hand injury, limiting him to five games and 1,065 yards, 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He went undrafted in 2025 and signed with the Chargers.

Career highlights

Uiagalelei won two ACC championships with Clemson (2020, 2022) and the Cheez-It Bowl in 2021. His 2023 season at Oregon State, in which he threw 21 touchdowns against just 7 interceptions, stands as the high point of his five-year college career.

2025 season recap

As a rookie, Uiagalelei was waived by the Chargers in final roster cuts but was re-signed to the practice squad, later earning a reserve/futures contract. He did not see regular-season game action in 2025, with his statistics showing no recorded pass attempts.
