Bengals QB whose 2024 led the league in passing yards and touchdowns, now returning from a 2025 toe injury.
Joe Burrow's career has alternated between dominance and durability questions. He led the NFL in both passing yards (4,918) and touchdowns (43) in 2024, then tore through Week 2 of 2025 with a ligament injury to his left big toe that wiped out the rest of his season. He returns in 2026 with a fully healthy front office mandate to compete in the AFC North.
Path to the league
Transferred from Ohio State to LSU and rewrote the SEC record book. His 2019 season at LSU: 5,671 passing yards, 60 touchdowns, six interceptions, the Heisman Trophy, and a national title that ran 15-0. The 60 passing TDs broke Colt Brennan's FBS single-season record. Bengals took him first overall in 2020.
Career highlights
20,810 career passing yards and 157 touchdowns through 2025. Reached Super Bowl LVI as a second-year player. Career-best 4,918 yards and 43 TDs in 2024, both NFL-leading marks. Owns the Bengals' single-game passing yards record (525) and franchise career completion percentage record.
2025 season recap
Through Week 2, Burrow had 1,809 passing yards and 17 touchdowns against 5 interceptions on 288 dropbacks. He suffered a turf-toe-style ligament injury early in the second game that required surgery. Backup Jake Browning started the rest of the way; Cincinnati finished 6-11.
What to watch in 2026
Burrow is fully cleared for offseason work. The bigger question is the front office. Ja'Marr Chase signed a record receiver extension in 2025 and Tee Higgins returned on the tag. Cincinnati's roster around its three offensive stars remains thin, and the AFC North is a meat grinder. The Bengals open at +3000 to win the AFC.
